Southwest PA Retriever Rescue Org./Shades of Grey Sanctuary for Senior Dogs

The dynamic duo, or a two fer one, either way Latte and Sage are a great pair. Latte (age 11) is the daughter of Sage (age 12) and they where both used as breeder dogs in Southern Virginia. When they became too old to produce, the breeder dumped them at the local pound. Fortunately for them, someone saw them and posted them to Facebook. They went viral and just a few days later we made the long trip south to pick them up. They where filthy, smelly, thin and had horrible coats. Latte had a very large tumor by her tail and Sage had too many bad teeth to count. Our friends at the Barker Shop in Plum PA took them in right away for a beauty makeover and did a wonderful job. Several vet visits and surgeries later the girls are now in prime condition. They run free in our fenced yard by day, and have their own room and Kuranda dog beds to sleep on at night. Poor Sages teeth where so bad that she had to have 16 removed, but she never missed a beat. Both girls are so happy and just run and play for hours now. Not bad for dogs of their age. They do require special dehydraited food and special kibble. Their coats are a beautiful mahogany brown now and are smooth and shiny. A long way from how they looked that winter day we picked them up.
